Absolut Fail
Paul has a good luck saying he likes to use when trying to get mission runners to shoot at him: "Get in the boat, fish." It's a lot more amusing when he says it - just trust me.
Everyone has the story of "the one that got away", but today's entry is about the one that should have gotten away.
A mission runner in an expensive Amarr command ship - the Absolution - opened fire on me after I loot his tasty faction wrecks. Command ships are based off battlecruiser hulls giving them an edge on speed over battleship hulls. My Abbadon warps back into the mission outside of my point range, and the Absolution pilot Mirana Niranne keeps shooting the NPCs while keeping me at range. This would have been the first time he could have gotten away.
I attempt to bookmark a wreck near him, warp out and then back onto the wreck; but I land outside point range again. Without many options left to me, I decide to burn toward him as best I can and start shooting from range. Mirana's armor slowly drops, but it's obvious that he can align and warp off whenever he chooses. Or can he?
With my Republic Fleet Warp Disruptor, fleet bonuses and overheat, I can push my point out to 39km. Mirana will be thinking that the best I can do is 24km - regular T2 Warp Disruptor range. So he lets my ship slowly drift closer to him as he works on killing the very last NPC. My large lasers are still knocking armor down little by little. I get inside point range but I don't activate.
The last NPC drops and Mirana turns for aligning to station... and I turn the warp disruptor on. I can almost hear the "OH SHIT" through the pixel-filled void. Mirana changes directions a few times, looking for a way out, but I'm too close now for him to burn away. At 10% armor when I engaged the disruptor, he quickly goes into hull and explodes in a red-hot ball of embarrassment.
I tried to chat with Mirana a few minutes later but received no reply to my request. On my second attempt I was informed that Mirana had not yet responded to my first request. I could only imagine Mirana curled up on the floor, rocking back and forth and saying "it's not fair! it's not fair!".

Excellent use of faction disruptors, overheating, and command bonuses to bring the shock that precedes the AWE YEAH.
