Moonrabbits lose CNRs. Angry Walter is Sad About His Golem.

Posted in Combat on May 8, 2010 at 8:46 PM by paul

Everyone in Jerks has the one thing that they're best at. For Jerk Zarago, it's hunting down wartargets, calling down the wrath of JerkFleet upon them, seeing them driven before him, and hearing the lamentations of their mission boats. Last night he got two Moonrabbit CNRs 45 minutes apart in adjacent systems (One Two). Way to fail at communication, guys.

Speaking of Moonrabbits, their tactic of moving to an alliance to evade our cheap wardecs has backfired, as the alliance they joined (OWN Alliance) has enough lulzy carebears to justify paying the larger fee. Tonight Zarago found a Golem and called us in. The Golem was blitzing L3s faster than we could scan him down and warp to him, so we waited for him to warp to a mission in another system, and waited on the gate for him to come back. Angry Walter never had a chance.

Hey, OWN Alliance: You guys were doing so well by having the 22nd in your numbers (<3 Fly Reckless and Ax) but Moonrabbits brought trouble to your door. When you lie down with the carebears, you wake up with the Jerks.

Can Flippy Goodness?

So... I'm not dead.

Yep, just getting that out of ze way. Over the last few weeks I've been forced into a bit of a sabbatical from EVE due to school and such, but I'm back. :)

So I decided to mix it up a bit, and do some can flipping instead of missioner ganking, since that's pretty much all we in Jerks do. I jump into my nearest Rifter, and undock in it with my alt in his Orca tagging behind, acting as hauler for whatever I manage to pillage from the belts. I head over to Botane, which is one system off Dodixie, and start prowling the belts in order of name. After literally a few minutes, I came across a Miner by the name of Outrageously French, in his Retriever mining his little heart out into a can. Of course, the relationship bears seem to have with their ore has always intrigued me, and this was no different. This called for an experiment! I waltzed up to his can, and opened the contents... FULL! Wow. I had underestimated this one. He seriously thought that he could protect his stash with his Retriever? I dropped my own can, and dumped his ore into it. Seconds later, he popped another can out, and flipped it back! This was a little weird... Never had a bear do that before... And he only had mining drones out too. Well, not one to turn my nose up at something juicy put right in front of me, I locked, scrammed, webbed him (not like a scrammed retty's going anywhere), and opened up with my little frigate. it took a little longer than I'm used to, what, with using a throwaway fit and all, but in under 15 seconds, his retriever was no more. I instructed my Orca alt to jump in and clean up the mess, while I went in search of more prey. I fired off a message to Mr. French, only to find out that he had ragelogged minutes after the kill.

I found myself in Auvergne, another system right off Dodixie, tearing through empty belts. I came across Tandenil in his hulk in the next one, another bear mining away... Again I walked up to the can, and took a peek. FULL! What is it with the bears today? I come back and suddenly they're all being completely careless? I flipped the can, and watched as he warped off. Once again I instructed my Orca to pick up the goods while I went on. A few minutes and empty belts later, I happened to glance at my alt's screen. The Hulk pilot was back in an Incursus! Feeling lucky, I warped to the belt, but, sadly, he warped _just_ before I landed. So I went back to belt scanning. Four belts later, I warp to zero, and land right on top of his Incursus. Oh crap... I slam on my afterburner, and hit max speed in an attempt to put some distance between myself and his more than likely short range weapons. He immediately targets me, and turns a flashy red. I scram and web him, and open up. Surprisingly, his shields melt in a few seconds, and I wonder what exactly he's fit with... Next, he launches a drone - a Hobgoblin I. At this point, it's doing more damage than his little frig, so I target it, and begin to take it out. When it's in half structure, he recalls it. Darn. :(

Now, we've switched, and I'm chasing him, apparently, he had enough sense to throw a web on me as well, so I was having trouble keeping up, and he was slowly getting out of point range (note, fit a disruptor, and not a cheap scram you looted from someone). When he was at about 1/3 structure, with me overheating, he warped. Crap. This time, I had a good estimate at a direction, and I took a gander at the station, and hit warp. My little Rifter shuddered out of warp once again right on top of him, and I used the element of surprise to instantly lock him up, scram/web, and let loose with pre-overloaded guns. The third of his hull, as well as the last quarter of his armor vanished in two volleys at point blank range, and he was reduced to a floating capsule. Unfortunately, this one too, shed no tears.

I cruised the belts some more after that, and ended up scooping around 3 more full cans of ore, before heading home to sell all my loot. All in all, a successful day, netting me a full Orca of loot to melt down. This just goes to show that one can have much fun by simply trying out something out of the norm for you, of course, missioners and their tears will still have a special place in my heart, but in all honesty, flipping miners' cans is just fun.

Vote!

[soapbox]

For CSM5, I'd like to suggest you vote for Manalapan. Here is is platform:

"I love EVE for the sandbox, the complexity, the player driven market, PVP mentality, but most of all I love it for the lawls. That means you, the griefers and scammers. Without that entertainment, EVE would be WOW in space. I stand by your goals for the betterment of our kind. We must stand together against the oppressive neo-carebears. A vote for Manalapan is a vote for Scammers and Griefers everywhere! "

Vote now!

CSM5 Voting is Underway

Vote now!

It only takes a couple of minutes. My four votes were split between Mynxee and Manalapan.

Tchell Dahnn should come back and run for CSM6.

Or maybe I will. Hmmm.

AmonWarr Doesn't Learn from usmcjeramy, Loses Navy Mega

Posted in Combat, Delicious Tears, Duffers, Ninja Salvaging on May 4, 2010 at 5:02 AM by paul

I'm scanning along in a new time slot for me, and it's like Dodixie is reborn and repopulated with idiots. I scan down a mission with two Navy Megas, piloted by usmcjeramy and AmonWarr. usmcjeramy locks and fires when I loot, but when I return with JerkTengu nobody is there but a salvaging alt.

usmcjeramy is apparently feeling a bit conciliatory.

usmcjeramy > hey just chcking to see if we are cool?
Paul Clavet > I was hoping to see what your navy mega could do
Paul Clavet > haven't fought one
Paul Clavet > wanna duel to structure?
usmcjeramy > you are in a tech 3 i cant do shit to ya
Paul Clavet > I could swap for something else
usmcjeramy > naw man im a missioner only
Paul Clavet > tell ya what
Paul Clavet > I just want to see the tank on that thing
Paul Clavet > I heard they're ungodly
Paul Clavet > I'll switch to some other ship that won't hurt you
Paul Clavet > like a cruiser?
usmcjeramy > naw man its all good im just running mission tonight thanks anyway
Paul Clavet > aw
Paul Clavet > do you like the navy mega?
usmcjeramy > sorry
usmcjeramy > but are we good?
usmcjeramy > as in nothing to worry about with eachother?
Paul Clavet > Of course we're good, I just wanted to see the capabilities of that ship because I want to get one
Paul Clavet > are you able to track small ships OK in it?
usmcjeramy > lol they are ok but you are old enough in the game you should be able to get one anyhow
Paul Clavet > Yeah, I can get one, but I've always flown caldari
Paul Clavet > have you tried shooting at a shuttle?
usmcjeramy > dont need to i dont do pvp
Paul Clavet > I have to kill lots of shuttles in merc contracts
Paul Clavet > people running away :)
Paul Clavet > so I need something that can hit them reliably
usmcjeramy > ok well nice talking to ya but i have to go, headed to masalle for sopme missions
Paul Clavet > wait up
Paul Clavet > will you try to see if you can kill my shuttle?
Paul Clavet > it has no guns :)
usmcjeramy > heading down to masalle for missions
usmcjeramy > no thanks have a nice night fly safe
Paul Clavet > ok man you too

He had to have known the deal, and he doesn't leave local, so I imagine that he's either taking a break or running another mission in Dodixie. I keep scanning.

Soon, I run across another hit: Two Navy Megas and a Fleet Typhoon. Turns out it's the same guys plus another pilot in the Typhoon. This time AmonWarr locks and fires. I run off, but expecting this to be a trap set to bag my Tengu, I grab JerkRaven instead and enlist Khalia for RR should all three faction battleships stand and fight.

When I return, usmcjeramy has bugged out, leaving only the Typhoon pilot and AmonWarr, who I have aggro on. As the Typhoon bugs out, I lock and point AmonWarr. Wow. His corpmate got to watch the exact same trap spring and live to tell about it, and five minutes later in another mission he lets his corpmate step right into it?

AmonWarr > what?
Paul Clavet > 300M or your ship dies
AmonWarr > stop firing
AmonWarr > and lets talk
Paul Clavet > done
Paul Clavet > you have 30 seconds
AmonWarr > stop fireing now
Paul Clavet > I'm not firing
Paul Clavet > just neuting so you can't rep
AmonWarr > NOW
Paul Clavet > 20 seconds
Paul Clavet > you are about to die
Paul Clavet > pay now
AmonWarr > moon 20 meet
AmonWarr > I can't now
AmonWarr > give me moon 20
Paul Clavet > then you die unless you can get it from your friends
Paul Clavet > I will give you 60 seconds to get it from your corp
Paul Clavet > 30 seconds
AmonWarr > don't have that option mate
Paul Clavet > then you die
(He dies)
Paul Clavet > wtf were you thinking
AmonWarr > I didn't have the money man, wtf was I suppose to do?
Paul Clavet > get it from your corp mates?
Paul Clavet > I mean, what kinda friends are those?
AmonWarr > go without a fight, you could'g bige me to 20 to get some isk?
Paul Clavet > Yeah, that totally would have worked
AmonWarr > Not all that good, but wtf either way, you got your kill can I alteast come out and get my shit?
Paul Clavet > yeah come on
Paul Clavet > I don't want this crap
Paul Clavet > I'll see you around m8

No great loot, but hey, a faction BS kill is always nice.

AmonWarr's alt convos me a few minutes later. Hilarity is bolded.

DrakkenWar > I will say first good kill and tackle on my mega.
DrakkenWar > second I would say why, when my corp mate was flying a faction fit worth 4x my fit
Paul Clavet > You were the one I had aggro on.
DrakkenWar > fair enough.
DrakkenWar > with that toon, I was honest.. I did not have the isk, otherwise I would have given it for the boat, but tell me. why do you feel you had to be so flip?
DrakkenWar > If you had let that boat dock I would have given you what you asked for, the boat was worth more than that
DrakkenWar > A qujick ore flip and I would have given a gf and payed a well earned ransom. So tell me why you felt the need to do what you did.
Paul Clavet > Because you would not have paid.
DrakkenWar > lol I would have paid to save that boat, but with no liquid assests on hand the only way to pay was with ore melt. I did not want to loose that boat. But such as it is.. It is a game afterall.
DrakkenWar > so either way good drop and good kill even with what I lost.
Paul Clavet > Indeed. Perhaps you should work on improving at it?
DrakkenWar > welll when you fly solo in a corp of cock suckers that are never online you do what you must to survive
Paul Clavet > I'm afraid so.
DrakkenWar > at any rate, a lesson learned. Fly safe, and the next time I see ya, I hope it's not such an easy drop. Fly safe.. I've book'd ya the same as you have me.

Solo? Did he not see my faithful corpmate there with me?

We won't take it anymore!
