My Loot, Your Tears

So I'm salvaging along in Dodixie when I come across a Catalyst salvaging a room. I follow him, flying to the wrecks he is tractoring and salvaging them out from under his nose. This is usually something I do purely for extra salvage and grief, as nobody ever attacks with an unarmed salvage Catalyst.

But Teh Dizzle has prepared for this day. Oh yes. Teh Dizzle is packing a single light drone. With only two wrecks left in the room, he launches it and aggresses to me.

Knowing that he'll soon be finished and out of the mission, I quickly warp to my Orca and grab JerkTengu, which I've set up for quick kills on weak ships. When I land, the Teh Dizzle is 40 km away. I overheat my mids, but I still have 12km to close with him, and figure that he'll probably escape.

But Teh Dizzle's brain and balls are all the size of softballs, apparently. He re-launches his light drone and heads for my Strategic Cruiser. He dies quickly.

Looking at his BattleClinic record, I judge him as someone who will be looking for revenge and coming back in something larger. This is confirmed when I warp to M20 and see his Dominix outside the undock. I shoot at him until he docks, then hop inside, grab JerkRaven, and head back for his mission. I go ahead and warp on through the gate: He's not the type that will be checking his directional scanner before charging in.

Sure enough, his Dominix appears on my D-scan a few minutes later, and then on my overview.

I certainly hope he gets a chance to attack again. He's got guts, even if he's missing the discretion component to his valor assembly.

I'm on a vacation from my wormhole, thanks to a two-day event in which we held a POS from ransom - and then killed it, of course. Off to Dodixie I went - months since I did any salvaging and gank baiting. Paul joined me later, just like old times.

I warped into a mission with a Dominix and found him in the very last room. This mission has a shield around the mission item container, the Imperial Navy Armory. Destroying the shield is necessary to get in there, and the Domi was just butting up against the shield. Assuming he was AFK I went back for my gank-fit Abbadon. Some good tears to be had from taking the mission item. I arrive back and start shooting the shield, when I get a convo request from the mission runner. Expecting tears, I am hugely amused to get the following chat, and play along.

I've cut some other parts where we talk about where he lives, his job, and so on - it made for good trust-building, but not key to the story.

You'll notice I was very careful never to claim I actually was CCP or a dev. 10 minutes pass and I haven't heard back, so I decide to check in. Paul has the clever idea to try to drop the item for the guy and then gank his ship.

And sure enough, he comes back with his Domi. Paul is setting up a destroyer for a pod gank, since we figure maximum tears from betrayal and pod kill.

He takes it, I lock him up, and pew away. He's got a decent tank even with my two heavy neuts, so I warp in my alt to provide RR while Paul stands by for pod gank. When it's clear he's going to lose, he tries a ransom, which I take, and then kill him anyway. Paul tries for the pod kill, but he had to rush to fit a ship and it doesn't work.

This was hugely amusing and fun, and it makes me wonder why I hang around in a wormhole. I think I need to move one of my alts out to Dixie again, or get another character going.
