I've heard this game bandied about as an EVE substitute... I'm considering it.
Fake edit: it's cheaper than EVE too, and apparently it even takes a bunch of the eve concepts and puts them to use as well... it's not spaceships, but it's interesting. However, I won't be creating a full account until I know for sure that EVE is dead.

I tried Perpetuum a while ago and it is nothing close to EVE. The whole world is about the size of Jita and there are far too few players.
So, if you decide to roll with it, I will not be joining you. But I will continue to read whatever you write.

I've played the trial for a couple of hours... it's just not the same. Maybe with time it could be a suitable replacement, but it's just not for me... yet.
Maybe I'll join the FHC/Kugu guys on CEVE, I"m Chinese myself and it'd be a hilarious way to brush up on my reading skills.

Sounds like noob guy speaking. He is really bitching about pluses of the eve and that perpetum game, like skilling, complexity.

Been enjoying your posts and clever workarounds of the game mechanics and rules. A bit surprised though that you and so many other vets are not being as clever in dealing with CCP's nonsense. A few players (even a few thousand) rage quitting the game won't do much to CCP's financial bottom line (and they know it), but a few thousand irate players can certainly unbalance the game and make it virtually unplayable, esp. for new players. Bring the concurrent user count down, discourage new subs, and crash the in-game economy - CCP's money grubs would notice that. How? Perhaps, buy up all of the T1 frigates in high-sec - then push prices up so much that new players can't buy ships and can't play? 23/7 perma-Hulkageddon? Gank and spank trial account players until the tears are flowing like rivers?
Put your devious mind to it, Mr Clavet, and surely you can come up with something that is even well within the EULA. ;)

I considered that too... a little market warfare in the starter systems would go a long way.
Try this one. Buy 100 T1 frigs from all high-sec stations, reprocess to minerals, sell minerals back to market. Net cost to you, maybe few million ISK, but only takes minutes to do. Tell 10 friends to do same, and have each tell 10 more friends, until entire T1 frig market depeleted. Should happen fast for all empire space. Leave "good" ships like Navitis for mission running and PvP (lol). Manufacturing players cannot replace ships as fast as ships can be reprocessed. In a week, serious imbalance in game for new players, I think.

That said, perhaps ironically, Perpetuum seems a bit one-dimensional and lacking in depth to me (the latter is abiiiiiiiiiiig no-no after 2.5 years in EVE), but I might give it a try, along with Black Prophecy, and Freelancer if that one still exists.
Oh, Infinity: Quest for Earth, wherefore art though? (and can you ninja-salvage and -loot in it?)
